Week Three: Japanese Horror; A Wild Sheep Chase (6 Pts)

To be honest the novel “A Wild Sheep Chase” was quite different from the more traditional horror I’ve read.  I was utterly confused if and quite difficult for me to grasp by the novel's beginning this is mostly due to the author's choice of narratization, but further along the way as I read the novel I was enraptured by the plot and conclusion of the story.

As you may know the novel's primary focus was to find a strange sheep with a star who is linked to the boss of our main protagonist's. There is a series of unfortunate events that keeps occurring to the main protagonist after the divorce of his first wife, thus leading him to this investigation in which he has no choice to accept or else his life is ruined.

Not only is the audience pushed along with the protagonist's adventure to question and find the unknown peculiar creature but as well as The reader is thrown into this investigation along with the main protagonist and his girlfriend and it is as if we are within a loop of confusion and curiosity as we dive further into the search.  Not only is the reader tied to this investigation but we are also dumbfounded to be thrown into the main protagonist's horrible love life.

As difficult as the Novel was beginning was, I found the story to be very compelling.  Not only were we searching for a mystery sheep but we unknowingly dove watched the sin protagonist's journey within himself.
